DeMange and I are taking different stances on who to start during each week of the NFL Fantasy Football Season. If you find yourself in a similar situation, take a look. Hopefully we can help you out.
1. Jamaal Charles (KC vs SD) or Jonathan Stewart (CAR @ OAK)
| DeMange - Jonathan Stewart |
Phlipot - Jamaal Charles |
| Carolina comes off their bye week only to be blessed with playing the Raiders. Talk about a creampuff as of late. Carolina will get up early and run the ball all 2nd half against this 28th ranked defense (30th against the run). DeAngelo and Stewart should both find the endzone this week along with some nice garbage yardage late. J Charles is an attractive start against the Chargers but like every other team that plays KC I assume SD will get the lead early and force KC to throw the ball which takes the ball out of Charles' hands. |
Charles is coming off his first 100 yd game last week (5.9 yds/carry) and could be in line to start for the rest of the season. He is facing a San Diego defense that has been average at best. San Diego has a new defensive coordinator this week in Ron Rivera. Still, Charles has a good matchup if he can get through the holes quickly and get into the struggling secondary. While Jonathan Stewart has a great matchup against Oakland, DeAngelo Williams has solidified himself as the starter and will get the majority of the carries and even the goal line work. Stewart will still get carries but it may not be enough to have any value that Charles could provide. |
2. Derrick Mason (BAL @ HOU) or DeSean Jackson (PHI vs NYG)
| DeMange - Derrick Mason |
Phlipot - DeSean Jackson |
| I think Baltimore has indeed found their QB of the future. Flacco is poised and seems unrattled with swarming defenses on his heels. Mason has been Mr Consistency throughout his career and as the chemistry grows between these two the stats will surely increase. Houston is 14th against the pass but that is solely because teams can run on them quite easily so look for Mason to get his targets this week. D Jackson has been a pleasant surprise thus far but with Philly getting Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis back from injury it looks like Jackson will take a back-seat for now and be called on as the 3rd WR for the remainder of the season. |
Jackson has a tough matchup against the reigning Super Bowl Champs. If McNabb can find the time (Giants have 30 sacks on the season), Jackson can beat the Giants deep as they have given up 4 receptions over 40 yds this season. With Reggie Brown coming back from injury and getting more of the redzone plays, Jackson's best bet is to hit the endzone from afar. |
3. Chad Pennington (MIA @ SEA) or Matt Ryan (ATL vs NO)
| DeMange - Chad Pennington |
Phlipot - Matt Ryan |
| What a difference a change in scenery makes?!? Chad has the Dolphins not only playing well but playing tough teams well. His accuracy has been dead on so far this year and it should not stop when the Seahawks come into town. Miami plays way better at home so look for Pennington to find his new favorite target in Camarillo for multiple looks this week. M Ryan has also been sharp this year but he goes against a team coming off of their bye. This is a must win for the Saints so look for the intensity to be high and Ryan could get some nice fantasy numbers as ATL trails but it seems the stars will be aligning for a big day for New Orleans. |
Matt Ryan has been playing outstanding this season for not only a rookie but for any QB. He has the Falcons in the playoff race and is becoming a player in the fantasy realm too. He gets an outstanding matchup against the Saints defense that is allowing over 237 yds/game and 12 TDs to opposing QB's. Ryan has various playmakers surrounding him in RB Michael Turner and red-hot wide out Roddy White. And lately, even Michael Jenkins has been getting intot he mix and finding the endzone. With a high-powered offense led by potential MVP QB Drew Brees on the other sideline, Ryan may have to put it up even more this week. Ryan is almost a sure fire bet to hit 250 yds and multiple scores. |
