DeMange and I are taking different stances on who to start during each week of the NFL Fantasy Football Season. If you find yourself in a similar situation, take a look. Hopefully we can help you out.
1. Joseph Addai (IND vs HOU) or Larry Johnson (KC vs NO)
| DeMange - Larry Johnson |
Phlipot - Joseph Addai |
| Larry hasn't played fooball for one month but he is back and I would assume has a chip on his shoulder with all swirling controversy surrounding his private life. He will be out to prove he can put all of that aside and still play football. This week he gets an easy matchup against the Saints. He might be rusty and could split carries with Charles, but the definition of splitting carries can be summed up in one word - Indianapolis. Addia might break out this week against Houston but Rhodes will still see the field. Now that KC has been moving the pass via the air that should take some defenders out of the box for LJ to get some nice yards this week. My only fear is New Orleans getting up early and forcing KC to throw. |
This matchup features two backs that once topped everyone's lists and were sure-fire bets to be in your starting lineup each week. It is now week 11 and that doesn't hold true. While I like LJ's matchup, it is his first game back after a 4 week hiatus. Addai has been slow out of the gate since he has been back but he has a great matchup against the Texans at home. As the Colts prepare for their playoff run, they need to get their ground game going. The Colts will try to run the ball and Addai should have success against them. |
2. Kevin Walter (HOU @ IND) or Eddie Royal (DEN @ ATL)
| DeMange - Eddie Royal |
Phlipot - Kevin Walter |
| The life of a #2 WR...Brandon Marshall gets the double team and Eddie is a solid rookie with a ProBowl caliber QB. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you are the Falcons. Denver has no running game so if their defense can keep Matt Ryan from torching them I would assume Shanahan has no problems with throwing 40 times a game from here on out this season. This bodes well for Royal owners. Walter is facing a tough pass defense in the Colts but should draw the single coverage. Eddie Royal is still the way to go as he could easily lead the team in targets and yards this week. |
Walter has been getting consistent looks from his QB with Andre Johnson hogging all the attention. Walter had 85 yds and a score last week against Baltimore. Reasonable numbers to expect this week. He is a threat to score inside the redzone because of his ability to find an opening and hold onto whatever is thrown his way. |
3. Green Bay Defense (vs. CHI) or San Francisco Defense (vs STL)
| DeMange - San Francisco |
Phlipot - Green Bay |
| What a heart-breaker on Monday night. The #1 offense in football is held to zero rushing TD's and loses because of poor coaching in the 4th quarter. I was actually impressed with San Fran's D on Monday night as their LB's are very solid. St Louis is on the schedule this week and with Bulger struggling and Steven Jackson on the bench this might be a nice "pad the stats" week for the San Fran D. There should be plenty of QB sacks and potential interceptions to put the 49ers atop the top defensive teams for Week 11. |
After losing to Minnesota last week by just inches, this is a huge game with playoff implications for the Packers. The Pack could have a tough time reigning in the rookie RB Matt Forte, who is a 2-way threat. If Orton is not on the field, the Packers chances go up dramatically as backup QB Rex Grossman is prone to mistakes and the Packers are excellent in the secondary. With Green Bay's ability to score on special teams and on turnovers, I have to give the nod to the Packers at home. |
