It is Thursday and every player in the draft is terrible. As I prepare for my FINAL mock draft which will be posted Saturday morning, here are some perceptions being thrown around...
Matt Stafford is not consistent enough
Mark Sanchez lacks experience and a cannon isn't attached to his body
Jason Smith has not played in a three-point stance
Eugene Monroe has terrible knees
Aaron Curry doesn't fit anyone's defensive scheme
All the USC linebackers are racist drug addicts
Michael Crabtree is a diva
Andre Smith is Andre Smith
As you can see, if you follow the draft long enough everyone has problems. And if they don't have problems, somone will make one up. Some of these issues probably carry some weight but more times than not, a team is pushing information to the media hoping that the said player in question will fall into their lap.
It is an interesting dynamic to watch play out in front of our eyes. Team are jockeying for position, setting their draft boards, going through countless scenarios, spreading rumors (or mis-information) about various players, holding pre-draft press conferences so that come Saturday, they will be prepared for every outcome.
It is all part of the game right now and we get to sit and watch everything fall into place on Saturday afternoon.
